Hey there 👋,

Welcome to the new subscribers as well 🤩 Just a quick reminder, every Thursday, you'll be receiving a weekly roundup of curated posts and helpful insights about the digital experience.
This week, we’ll be talking about first-party data:
what it is
why its importance is increasing
what you need to know about it and beyond
Let’s jump to this week’s topic, and then as always, you’ll have the best blog posts, videos, podcasts, and other types of content from last week.
A Solution for Privacy and Personalization: First-Party Data
You've probably heard about first-party data. I believe we will hear a lot more about it in the near future.
First-party data is information about a customer collected directly by a company through its own channels and sources.
But why is first-party data getting more important?
First and foremost, since first-party data is the information that you have acquired yourself from your own channels, it is often the most accurate data accessible to you (along with zero-party data). In most cases, you can gather first-party data for free, making it the least costly alternative.
After gathering first-party data:
you may get audience insights,
optimize your user experience,
refine your retargeting strategy,
detect patterns, and
forecast future trends.
We understand that there are benefits to it. But, what is the main reason for the rise of first-party data?
The main reason is that the growing number of consumers are concerned about the security and privacy of their personal data.
They're also becoming increasingly wary of third-party data, as they don't have control over how it's used or who has access to it.
These factors create a perfect storm for businesses to use first-party data to serve customers better and grow their business.
Customers are eager to share personal information with businesses in exchange for an experience tailored to their preferences. Customers want individualized content, but they also want to choose what information is shared in order to get that personalized experience with a brand.
Leveraging first-party data also eliminates the "creepy element" that customers often feel when interacting with a company.
